In this summer series at Kallangur we look at the richness of the ways Jesus is portrayed in the Bible, and what these images tell us about who he is and what he does for undeserving people like us.

The story of Jonah in the Bible is famous, but it’s meaning is less well understood. In the book of Jonah the great “chase” is not God’s pursuit of Jonah, but His pursuit of grace – both for Jonah and the people Jonah was sent to.
We will be looking at the book of Jonah and what it teaches us during our Bible Talks at Kallangur in October and November. The talks will include:
Most people in the world realise that we are more than just a collection of atoms; that we are spiritual beings. Many try to acknowledge this through ‘religion’ – angels, men in robes, rituals and good deeds done to earn God’s acceptance. The writer to the Hebrews though tells us that Jesus is better than religion. He is all that we need.

“What difference does Jesus make?” Many people today are interested not just in the facts of the different faiths, but in answering the question, “Does it work?” We believe that knowing Christ gives us hope both for the future and the present. We recognise that this life is still filled with trouble, but we would still rather have Christ through all the troubles of life, than not have him.
