Right with God

April 15, 2018 by Tim

Romans - Right with God

How can I be right with God? Romans 1-5 contains perhaps the most profound and grand answer given to that question, in the whole of the Bible.

We will be studying the first part of the book of Romans in our next series at Kallangur Bible Talks commencing on April 29th, considering:

  • Romans 1:1-15 – The good news of God
  • Romans 1:16-32 – Non-religious people need the good news of Jesus
  • Romans 2:1-24 – Religious people need the good news of Jesus
  • Romans 3:19-26 – Right with God
  • Romans 4:1-8 – Abraham was not right with God because of his works
  • Romans 4:9-12 – Abraham was not right with God because of rituals
  • Romans 4:6-25 – Abraham believed in God who raises from the dead
  • Romans 5:1-11 – Blessings that come from being right with God
  • Romans 5:12-19 – One or the other

Sermons will be available shortly after each Bible Talk

If you could ask God one question, what would it be?

March 8, 2018 by Tim

If you could ask God one question, what would it be?

In January and February we asked friends ‘if you could ask God one question, what would it be?’ So now, across the month of March we will be looking at several of these big questions, including:

11th March – “How can a God of love allow suffering?”
Even good people suffer. How can a God allow that?

18th March – “Why Christianity, when there are many religions?”
Isn’t it arrogant to claim Christianity is the ‘right’ religion? Why not choose one of the others?

25th March – “Why isn’t Christianity more inclusive?”
Doesn’t moral and religious truth just limit freedom and lead to hatred?

ALSO, on Easter Sunday (1st April) we’ll consider “Does it matter whether or not Jesus rose from the dead?”

In the lions’ den

Daniel 1-6

Daniel and his friends were faced with a stark choice: go with the flow and enjoy the good life, or risk everything and follow the Lord. They chose the latter‚ and God delivered.

Our next series at Kallangur will delve into the first six chapters of the book of Daniel, looking at:

  • Do you fit in? (Daniel 1)
  • Kingdom clash (Daniel 2)
  • Confronting our idols (Daniel 3)
  • Who’s the king around here? (Daniel 4)
  • God weighs in (Daniel 5)
  • The God who delivers (Daniel 6)

Kingdom Mess!

December 5, 2017 by Tim

Kingdom Mess

2 Samuel 11-20 is a tale of a Kingdom that is far less than what it ought to be. Sound familiar? The good news is that it also tells us of a God who shows grace despite the mess, and of a better King who does all things well.

This is the second part in our series on the book of 2 Samuel. The first part titled ‘Your Kingdom Come’ is available here.

Sermons will be available below shortly after each Lord’s Day, commencing in December 2017.
