Welcome to our Church.
At Everton Park we understand it’s quite daunting to walk into a new church not really knowing what to expect. So, please take a look at this brief summary of what happens at our church on Sunday.
Morning Prayer Meeting
From 9:00am on Sunday we gather at the Church hall to pray together. This begins by one of the men who are members of the church giving us a short exposition of a Bible passage so that we can focus on prayer. Then we split up into smaller groups and share particular points for prayer, so that we can ‘bear one another’s burdens’ together. We pray for anything concerning the kingdom of God- praise and thanks to God, for particular needs for one another, within the church, our denomination and missions, or the world more broadly, including our leaders and our nation.
For Children
During school terms we have a Sunday School that runs from 9:00 until 10:00, with singing, learning the Bible, and craft activities. All young children (3 yrs to Grade 5) are welcome!
For the older children (Grade 6-9) we have Crossroads from 9:00 to 10:00, which provides a more in-depth bible study and opportunity for discussion to challenge the children to think beyond the words and to understand what the bible is teaching.
Morning Fellowship
At around 10:00 we gather around the front outside the church, enjoying some morning tea and fellowship. You’ll be welcomed and offered some tea or coffee too! At the door, visitors will be welcomed and receive a prayer news, perhaps an outline of the sermon, and if it’s your first time, a welcome pack. Bibles are available. We use the New King James version. Visitors should feel free to make themselves at home and sit anywhere they feel comfortable.
Worship Service
Our worship service begins at 10.30am and runs for approximately 90 minutes. During this time, we worship God by singing together, praying together, reading God’s Word the Bible, and usually our Teaching Elder, Callum, preaches God’s Word to us. We have a strong focus on biblical preaching, and normally Callum would preach each week progressing through a particular book of the Bible or topical series. We invite you to visit our sermons page and listen to the preaching.
We use the Praise! hymn book and sing a mixture of traditional and more modern songs with a piano to keep us in tune. An offering is also taken up during the service, but visitors are certainly not expected to contribute.
Lord’s Supper
On the 1st Sunday each month we celebrate the Lord’s Supper. This takes place a short time after the worship service. For more information about participating in this sacrament please click here.
